MOOSE is a Uniswap v4 token. Buying it does two things at once —
one new, one waiting since 2016.
A A creature is born
Every buy mints you a moose.
MOOSE has a fixed supply of 10,000. Buy one, and the contract draws
you a moose — a one-of-a-kind pixel-art creature, made and stored
fully on-chain. It lives in your wallet. Send the token and the
moose goes with it; sell, and it is gone.
B The artifact is poked
Every buy calls moose() for real.
In the same transaction, MOOSE calls the real 2016 contract. That
fires Vitalik's moose() function, which builds a small
new contract on Ethereum. So every buy leaves a permanent mark on
the chain — made by the 2016 function itself. If that call ever
fails, your buy still goes through.
So there are two herds: the mooses in wallets, and the trail of
contracts the 2016 function leaves behind — one per buy. Both are
counted in the herd census.
